Who would have thought that the humble Honda CX500 would turn
out to be such a versatile platform for customization? When
it first appeared Cycleworld said it looked "like an aircompressor",
the Brits call it the "Plastic Maggot" and the Germans
kindly refer to it as "Guellepumpe", which is the
tank pump trailer that German farmers use to spray cowshit on
Ten years ago you couldn't give these bikes away but the cafe
phenomenon has given the CX a new lease on life. Even renowned
builders such as Johann Keyser at Moto
Motivo are turning these odd watercooled, shaft driven,
push-rod V-twins into very clean, custom bikes.
It takes considerable skill to make a CX500 look this lithe
and good! We've seen a lot of CX500 builds but almost all of
them use a stock tank. Johann used our BSAT3 fuel tank and carefully
mounted it onto the CX frame. The tank completely transforms
the look of the bike! Subframe and seat unit were custom made.
We have several seat options for the standard frame. Call us
today for a recommendation!
